Replacement brush head for Garland artificial lawn sweepers

When to Replace the Brush Head on Your Garland Lawn Sweeper

The brush head is the part of your artificial lawn sweeper that does all the work. Every pass, its bristles flick through the turf fibres and lift leaves, grit and hair into the collection bag. Like any brush, those bristles wear down over time, and a worn brush head is the most common reason a sweeper that used to work brilliantly starts leaving debris behind.

The good news is that you don't need a new sweeper. A replacement brush head restores the pickup, and it's a fraction of the price.

Signs your brush head needs replacing

  • It's leaving debris behind. Leaves, hair or grit stay in the turf after a pass that used to clear them.
  • The bristles look short or flattened. Compare them with a photo of a new brush head. Worn bristles sit lower and no longer reach down into the fibres.
  • The bristles are splayed, bent or missing in patches. This causes uneven pickup, with clean strips next to dirty ones.
  • You're going over the same area several times. If one pass used to be enough and now it takes three, the brush is the likely culprit.
  • The fibres aren't lifting. A good brush head stands the turf back up as it sweeps. If the lawn still looks flat afterwards, the bristles may be too worn to grip.

How long does a brush head last?

It depends on how often you sweep, how big the lawn is and what you're picking up. A small backyard swept fortnightly will go much longer than a school or childcare centre swept several times a week. Heavy use with sand infill, gravel edges or lots of pet hair wears bristles faster.

Rather than going by time, go by results. When the pickup drops off and the signs above start showing, it's time.

How to make your brush head last longer

  • Clear sticks, stones and large debris by hand first. Hard objects bend and break bristles.
  • Avoid sweeping hard surfaces. Running the sweeper over concrete, pavers or gravel wears bristles quickly. Lift or switch it off when crossing paths.
  • Sweep when the turf is dry. Wet debris clumps and drags on the bristles.
  • Set the right height. If your model has height adjustment, set it so the bristles reach into the fibres without grinding into the base.
  • Clean it occasionally. Pull out wound-up hair, string and grass so the bristles can move freely.
